Description
The legendary Super Chief was the first Diesel-powered train in America and the flagship of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. It was called "The Train of the Stars" because of the celebrities it carried between Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California. The Super Chief left Dearborn Station in Chicago for its first trip on May 12, 1936. When Amtrak took over operation of the nation's passenger service on May 1, 1971, the 35-year run of the Super Chief ended. This image reminded me of a caged animal yearning to run free.

It definitely still looks powerful. Some of those big diesel locomotives moved like controlled thunder.

A very powerful-looking locomotive - it does look like a caged animal here. :( poor thing.

Looks like a caged dinosaur - a most impressive piece of engineering! I think i know this train from several movies ...? The design of this machine is somehow timeless and the paint job is pure pop art! An impressive capture!
