Description
Birds of a feather flock together. How's that for an original adage?
Captured back on 3/13/10, at the beautiful Los Angeles/Griffith Park Zoo in Los Angeles, California.
These birds are really cool and can achieve statue-like poses for long periods just standing on one leg.
I haven't been back to the zoo since, due to the traffic, large crowds and undisciplined urchins, which make a visit barely bearable.
Arrivederci.

I love their bent bills/beaks, which makes them look as if they all ran into a plate glass window at high speed; great capture of them posing as a group! I always find that their pools have a rather unpleasant smell here at the Seattle zoo, do you recall if that was the case in Los Angeles? At any rate, excellent work my friend!

wow, a flock of flamingoes---way cool!!! I remember Griffith Park from when I was a kid. The zoo was tiny, but it was the pony rides I loved the most. My cousin and always got the FAST ones, well we thought they were fast!!

well it holds true again: a great shot of pipe-beasts gets a few comments, but graceful birds (or flowers) get a lot more. Ah well. But nothing to complain about here: This is a splendid capture of these beautiful beasts. I like Denise's expression, "I love their bent bills/beaks, which makes them look as if they all ran into a plate glass window at high speed"---well done, lol! But you got a light in these that makes them look like they're illumined from within, or like they're lamps, almost. When this went up, I went to our local zoo (the smallest of our zoos), to find the flamingos; but they weren't out that day. (Where were they? A convention?) Anyway, it's not just the light that makes this beautiful, but the luminous reds and oranges; and the beautiful red-painted back feathers, as well as the musical lineup of their necks. A wonderful shot of flamingos, awash in beautiful light. And the ones in the background look as if they're painted on silk...For a shot with so much shade, it's bursting with light. Beautiful work, Harry! (you may know this, but "flamingo" comes from the same root as "flame". We also get "flamenco" from it---a flaming, passionate music. They're so-named perhaps because their coloration reminded people of flame...)
