Description
Captured back on 2/17/12 @ 10:32 am, about .75 miles from my anachronistic abode. Definitely the best flower growth I've seen of this species in the city.
With the lack of direct sunlight, the original photo on top appeared rather blah and uninspiring to me, so I opted for some meaningful variations to inject a bit of life into the flora.
Vive la difference!
Adelis.

While beautiful in their natural colours they do look just as nice in black and white. Good variations mate! Rob

when this first went up, I was impressed by the subtlety of your variations: You made fine-tuned changes throughout. The original shot is very exotic, for the tight groupings of those yellow flowers, and for the green succulents below them; and for the rustic partially decayed wood and whatever (plaster?) in the porch behind the front plants. A rich photo to begin with. No. 2 seems an enhanced version of no. 1, with stronger contrasts, more highlights, a bit more saturation, and sharpness as well. The third shot has diagonals of light and shade, but subtly, so the original shot is kept intact. A late-day shaded feeling here. The 4th has the grays and blues in saturated almost day-glo pinks, while you left other hues as they were. Good job of selective coloring (the yellows are more bold too...) And the last shot is beautiful in its own right, a beautiful black and white that brings out the music and linear electricity of the shot, as well as its unity. Very thoughtful work on these, Harry, sensitive to what's in the original and what changes it calls out to have. And I like that you end in black and white---it's a very refreshing change from the strong yellows and greens here.
