Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I only have a Fuji Fine PIX 303, over 10 years old, and STILL working perfectly! Hmmm... is this the fellow who dived at me and circled around me on my way to work last week? He looks kind of guilty. Keep up the good work! :-)

This came out great... your pocket camera did a fine job. Hope you can get the other one fixed.

I just point and shoot with a little Sony I got for my birthday. I actually am not even sure where to find the official name of it...maybe a DSC-WX350?? Anyway what I love most about it is that I can carry it with me all the time. It makes this little amateur happy enough. :) I love this fine looking fellow you captured Andrea. Thanks for sharing. :)

Superb capture Andrea. Digital zoom cameras do come in handy. I especially enjoy the digital super zoom cameras which i tested belonging to my nephew. God bless.

A truly beautiful bird and well captured.

Love that kind of capture !

A great shot and I agree with you sometime they bung in so many features instead of concentrating on those that matter.

So crisp against the grey sky! I am always confused by gull ID even after a lifetime as a birdwatcher. It is the leg colour mostly that give the correct solution. I was excited briefly while away on hols. Until I found out the Mediterranean race of Herring Gulls have yellow legs, so it wasn't a rare bird after all. Why would they do that, are they trying to confuse us?

Marvelous bird and shot !

I have not seen such a snow white gull over here - they are scavengers and will eat anything and everything. The ocean water is not that clean where I grew up.

Superb composition and exposure. It looks so noble. Reminds me of the coast watchers looking for an invasion.
