I'm sorry I saw this a day late, I just couldn't come to the computer yesterday. But thank you so much for this beautiful and touching dedi. I, in fact, have had several ill people in my life, lately, and your image evokes the feelings I've had as I've watched some of them pass from this life. It's extremely thoughtful of you to make this for me, Ute. The man, here, is portrayed with real inward grief, and you've lit him so he stands-out, inside his beautiful but grieving abode. Your details are beautiful: Even the bird (a canary, maybe?) is bowing its head in grief; and you rendered the bird in bright yellow so that it stands almost like a little sun. (Hope in the midst of grief.) The man looks as if he's been in battle, as he has scars and bruises...like the battles all of us go through when someone we love is ill, and also when someone passes. There is much beauty in the home/apartment, but you've put it all in shadow, which is appropriate. Even the paintings look beautiful, but it's as if "tears" were falling down their surfaces, as if they were weeping for the man. And there's a beautiful town outside, maybe a courtyard---which is hope, the proof that life goes on--so that while the man is in mourning, he sees beauty just out his window. (You even have what looks like music on the floor---if it's music, thank you, because you know that I'm a musician. Beautiful details, as always; and rendered with great thought. And your composition---with the table jutting to us on an angle, with the table top lined up perfectly with the shelf on the left and the easel on the right---is beautifully articulated. The room juts backwards in the windows, and forwards in the table---and yet it's quiet and contemplative in the center. Beautiful work once again, Ute, and many thanks for such a thoughtful dedi, I greatly appreciate it. And congratulations once more on your RR award: As many people feel, you wholly deserve it. I wish you a beautiful week and summer ahead. Thank you again.
