Just like 'Yin & Yang' in my opinion ... the word Yin comes out to mean “shady side” and Yang “sunny side” and that is what I discovered in your photo here Nikolay - simply divine ! BB Also: Two halves that together complete wholeness. Yin and yang are also the starting point for change. When something is whole, by definition it is unchanging and complete. So when you split something into two halves – yin / yang, it upsets the equilibrium of wholeness. This starts both halves chasing after each other as they seek a new balance with each other - taken from the Chinese philosophy. BTW - are you a Grandfather again ? did your daughter have a 'Gemini - Baby' ? 'Congratulations' are in order, if that is the case ;P (it's also my star sign ;))

Right, Brit! I am a three-times grandpa now! Baby Vika is a little more than two weeks old now and doing fine. Thanks a lot for your warmest words!

Lyrical dichotomy, like a timeline.

congratulations on your new grandbaby too! A wonderful thing! And this photo is one of your most mysterious and insightful portraits. Wonderful contrast between the older man and the younger. Your contrast of bleached white lights of the older supplicant, and the deep nuanced dark light of the younger supplicant is masterful. And the dark surrounding them is an equal 'player' in the photo. Even the stark white frame is beautiful to set off the dark tones of the photo, and bring out the bright tones. You could have called this "the many faces of prayer" or "the many faces of devotion". The older man comes off, somehow, as a master, to the younger man's student. And I love Brigitte's interpretation, the way she explains yin and yang, and how she applies it to this image: You do truly have a meeting of two halves here. And the detail in the old man's skin is wonderful too, as is the soft almost metallic hue of the younger man. Superb image on every level. It's always eye opening to come here and realize all there is to do with images. You always make me go back and look more and more, and more deeply,
