Description
Greetings Folks,
RAF Cosford, despite the rain, brought out into the air for the first time since it was cancelled 50 years ago, the TRS2, the finest aircraft the RAF never had..
Controversy rages to this day over the reasons why it took so long to arrive (politicians sticking their noses in) and why its specifications were changed so many times..
Cancelling this aircraft killed the British aircraft industry stone cold.. The last aircraft we designed here was the Hawk..
Now tell me, does this look cool and as though it could still do the job or what?
Take a good look, unlikely to be outside ever again, only two left.. This one and one at Duxford..
Massive postwork for effect, hope you like.
Comments to follow.. Other news I was invited to join HMArmedForces Photo Group.. Well, at least I've been noticed! lol
Enjoy
Rob

Very interesting. I've not seen this plane before. reminds me a lot of the US Navy A-5 Vigilante. I know what you mean about politicians sticking their noses in where they shouldn't (LOL). I'd like to be the first to say well done on being invited into that Photo Group. You HAVE been noticed!!!!

Glad you were noticed. Hope it's an honour. This plane looks good - clean lines. I wonder what's inside between the cockpit and the air intakes for the engines? Looks like it still can do a good job (Downing Street 10, or some politician's home or office maybe?). Problems in Sweden, too. From having Europe's largest air force in 1960s, it's now almost the smallest. Partly due to development and manufacturing costs of super modern planes, but also political nonsense IF a new variant is to be developed, or a new plane, or if planes are to be sold to other countries (the planes may not be used in a conflict. Uh?). The Russians are re-arming like mad and having huge military exercises. So now politicans here are becoming a wee bit concerned. But, you don't manufacture modern planes overnight, so the war is lost before it begins! Good photo of this rare plane. Keep up the good work! :-)

Big congrats !!!!!!!!!!! This is one of the dumbest moves ever made period, an awesome aircraft !

very potent looking jet and a great capture with conditions. the politicians here screw everything up also. they probably were not able to get their "kick-back", so they sacked it

Damned politicians and what a super plane they never allowed it to be. Love the pic Rob.

What a cool aircraft and beautiful photo. Politicians have made a muck of many military decisions. Glad you were noticed, Rob. You are one fine phtog of all things military!

The "British Arrow", as I tend to think of it. Intended for a different mission than our own Avro Arrow, but virtually the same fate, for the same short-sighted reasons. At least you chaps have an intact airframe left! Great find, great photo. Great-looking plane too! Still looks cool and futuristic, even today.
