Description

Greetings Folks, RAF Cosford Show, She never let us down and here, waving goodbye with a huge wingover, is the worlds only airworthy Vulcan.. Yes she can do this, flying on 60% power only, restrictions now apply as she is over 10% max airtime for stress limits.. Most bombers have a wheel as the 'stick' to fly with, but Ray Chadwick (he off Lancaster fame) designed her with Fighter stick.. (See Thunderball for view). This is the last time I'll see her fly now unless I'm lucky, very lucky! But I have loads of photos to keep, shame all with grey skies! lol Enjoy Rob

Beautiful photo! I didn't know the pilots were allowed to do this kind of acrobatics with such large, and unique(!) planes! No need to fire her up to 100% - she's not carrying a payload, air mail, to wherever. The nice thing with this photo is we get to see the upper side, but it gives me cold feet considering what can happen. Thanks for the photo. Looking forward to more! Keep up the good work! :-) PS - how's Neil doing? I haven't seen or heard from him for a while.

I think you are already incredibly lucky to see it flying now! Who would a thunk that a Vulcan could fly like a fighter? Such a great pic, Rob. Kudos to you, my friend. Got any more?

Great semi silhouette shot of the quasi manta ray, as it soars overhead in its swan song, mate. Love those wings.

Oddly enough, I just watched Thunderball last night on DVD - one of my all-time favorite Bond flicks. I've always thought the Vulcan was a beautiful plane - as well as a kick-azz bomber. Beautiful shot of her, Rob!

Sad to think every flight could be the last....such a famous 'active service' life, and she's brought so much pleasure to airshow crowds....she'll be saddly missed although I'm sure she'll still attract countless visitors when she's finally grounded.
