Description

For the first time in my life, I've had knowledge of a rabbit nest in my yard while it was active and while the litter was (mostly) in tact. It was a frustrating experience to watch it get picked apart by some unknown predator over the last week. Here is the last surviving baby, still hadn't opened its eyes, trying desperately to locate mother and siblings (I think; it wouldn't stay in the nest). EXTREME cuteness. Sadly, it had a gaping neck wound, and I didn't expect it to last through the day. It didn't. Next time I have an opportunity, I WILL be actively protecting it with some tomato caging or something. (thank Darwin rabbits aren't an endangered species!) It's nice that my yard hosts a variety of bustling life, but the downside is there is (obviously; just look at my portfolio) also a lot of death to go along with it.

A cute little bunny and a wonderful photo - sometimes Mother Nature can be cruel!
