Description
After some more urging Caleya agreed that hiding the egg and trying to delay the dragons would be their best option
She told NarieFah, "I must ask you to go into the field to collect arrows and find a hiding place for the egg. It will be dangerous and I don't want to send you alone, but I need to stay here in the tower. It is the best position from which to fend off these fireworms. Stay well within bow shot of me and return immediately if I call."
NarieFah understood what to do and started down the stairs, she stopped when Caleya called out and said, "Keep the egg concealed until there is an opportunity to hide it when the fireworms are out of sight. I'll do my best to keep you safe my dear girl."
NarieFah nodded and ran down the steps and into the field. Her first task was to find the arrows, this was not hard since most had found there mark.
"I've been around dead Orcs before," she thought. "Except for the smell, pulling the arrows out of them won't be so bad."
But it was bad, she had to stand on some of them in order to reach the arrows. Even so she managed to collect them fairly quickly and was now starting to look for a place to hide the egg.
The dragons were just flying in a big circle around the tower and would occasionally spit out a fire bomb in the direction of the fleeing Orcs. But they hadn't made any move towards her, or the tower. She exclaimed, "they are staying out of range of arrows, I think they are afraid of Caleya! I am so lucky the Great Eagle friend chose Caleya and she is here with me now!"
In fact, Caleya's reputation as a dragon slayer had become very powerful to the Red Dragons and for now they were being very cautious.
NarieFah had to wait until the dragons were out of sight and since she was already near the cart and the orc beast, she couldn't resist moving a little closer. The massive creature was fascinating to her, the big horn on its nose and the spikes on its harness made it look very intimidating. But it was grazing and didn't seem to notice her as she passed.
Looking into the sky, she saw the dragons had flown behind the tower. "This is my chance, I must hide the egg quickly," she thought. Then selecting the place, she stashed the egg and started running back. She had not gone far when suddenly huge red wings appeared over the tower. Her heart started pounding and she threw herself down behind a rock. The sight of a dragon this close was very frightening, but when she looked up again the dragon was gone.
She picked herself up and whispered, "Thank you Caleya!" Then made a dash for the tower.
