Description

Captured 5/20/15 @ 8:29 am, somewhere around the neighborhood. I thought at first that this unusual (to me) bloom was a hybrid hibiscus and poppy flower of some sort, but on further consideration and research, I came to the conclusion that it was a hollyhock, a plant that is as rare as hen's teeth around here. In the event that I am correct, here is some info on the plant: Alcea, commonly known as hollyhocks, is a genus of about 60 species of flowering plants in the mallow family Malvaceae. They are native to Asia and Europe. Wikipededia free encyclopedia. And, if I'm wrong, just tell me in a very nice manner. Sayonara.

Was it tall? Hollyhocks are quite tall; I can't tell for sure what it is myself as I've only rarely seen hollyhocks. Hibiscus is pretty rare around here too, although I know they are quite common down in the southern California region; however, the central structures don't really look all that much like hibiscus either. Another option to consider is some sort of mallow...but again that's one that is not in my brain cabinet of flowers. Whatever it turns out to be, it's absolutely gorgeous, and your shot is superb, Harry.

Well, the flower does look like a hollyhock, but it is hard to see when we cannot see the stalks and the leaves, it should have. But lovely it is. :) HEHE "HenĀ“s teeth". ROFL!
