Description
Captured 7/1/15 @ 11:15 am, in front of one of the many medical buildings on beautiful Katella Avenue, in beautiful Los Alamitos, California.
At least I believe it's a water device; sure don't look like it's for gas or electricity.

Make sure that it doesn't escape !

Fascinating structure; I'm thinking it's for water too, but for the life of me I can't imagine why it has to have that configuration. Guess that's why I'm not an engineer! Great find, Harry, and a superb shot!

Excellent Textures and Colors!!! Great Capture!!!
giulband
Very fine composition with fine colors !!
Hendesse
An interesting construction, probably for water. I see the letters "PSI", that has something to do with the water pressure. Superb capture!

It's a wonderful find, and an equally wonderful shot. You get real clarity on these oddball "contraptions" that you find. I'm sure we have these here, but it takes a special eye not only to 'find' them, but to see their photographic power. The colors are so clear, and your angle allows that pale wall---a kind of flesh-toned rust---to be the perfect background for the beast. Great detail in the grasses too (in the center), and in the dried crushed leaves. I didn't find the "PSI" (ala Hendesse's comment above), but it makes sense that this has to do with water. And, as for Claude's Rube Goldberg comment: Yep---it looks like a Rube Goldberg contraption, alright. (I assume you know his work? The cartoonist of the first 7 decades of the 20th C, who drew all these crazed contraptions? Here's a link, just in case you haven't seen any of his work---It's a backscratcher:) http://questgarden.com/53/73/2/070721102820/images/rube_back.gif Wonderfully clear, bulbous shot, Harry, and you caught the background as if it'd been built for an art installation. Love the find and the capture. Terrific. (I also love the veined blues on that thing---I assume from decay. What a wonderful capture.)
