Description

Greetings Folks, Welcome to inside the very dusty and somewhat realistically arranged Land Warfare Museum, Duxford.. Stuck right up the far side of the airfield, its often forgotten but very much worth a visit.. For here are some real gems! As you can see, in this section alone we have Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G and Jagdpather (opened up so you can see inside) zoom is possibly and I got close ups.. Behind is a PAK 75 (75mm Anti Tank gun).. Not liked by Sherman drivers or in fact, none of these weren't! Further on, you enter a D-Day set up by walking through a Landing Craft while under fire 'Funnies' and armour hitting sandy beaches everywhere, a full size pill box stand inside! The place is very dusty and everything is set in in Earth or dusty sand, realistic is the thing here.. The full history of modern warfare is told from WW1 to the Gulf War and Bosnia, in fact there is Challenger Tank inside as well.. So, armour requests? Enjoy Rob

OH, MAN! I got more than I bargained for, all in one shot! Ka-boom! I see a quack, er, DUKW in the background, and a SdKfz 251 in foreground (command variant?). Interesting - they've cut an opening through the side armor of the Jagdpanther so one can see inside. That's rather unique. The walk way looks sandy. Interesting effect from the lighting here - the paint job on the vehicles almost looks like a hand painted Airfix model! The thumbnail certainly gave that impression, yet it sticks on seeing the real vehicles. The hot spot above the Jagdpanther suggests some gloss in the paint. It makes me feel a lot better about my paint job on my models (Humbrol paints). And WWI to the Gulf War with a Challenger, too. My, what a place! Thanks a LOT for this photo! I'm keeping my eyes open for more! Keep up the good work! :-)

WOW,ROB! Thanks for the dedi and I don't think I can add anything to T.Rex's comments. The cut away side certainly gives us a Jadgpanther view as to what the interior looks like. The driver's seat isn't long on comfort, is it? These tank destroyers were nasty vehicles to fight because of the low silhouette and the powerful 75mm guns. One of these I gotta get over to your side of the pond and you can give me the grand tour!
