Description
no need to read all these ramblings but read the bottom text
the left side is Penny. I had her for many years and I never liked her as she had the hardest head. I think she had the idea that she was a cat. after about 14 years(she lived 17 years as she was 3 when I adopted her) I got attached to her.
the reason I posted this was I was thinking that I had no picture of King. I found it today in an album. I took a picture of a picture as I am sure the negatives have been thrown away..
now King, he was a perfect dog as one other dog I had called Tyler. both never caused any trouble, never chewed anything. they never killed any animals that came into the yard. I adopted both from an animal shelter as all my dogs except for one.
I found the baby bird today in the grass dead and I know one of my current dogs Eve or Bodie killed it.
Eve has made me feel ill several times from her killing helpless birds, but today was the worst. if I had a cage I would have let the baby stay inside of it until it could fly

We had a Collie girl named Putter and her worst thing she would do is kill any bird that came into her backyard. She was a great dog with anyone including children, but when it came to Birds she hated them. You did what you could but nature is unforgiving!!! Beautiful Dogs!!!

I'm sorry to hear about the bird. Our dog is a hunter too, and kills any small animal she can catch. I can't fault her for that, since I eat meat myself (I usually get my meat at the store, but it's still dead animals), and hunting is a big part of how wolves and wild dogs find food.

Sorry for the little bird. The photo is very beautiful.

Nature will always win in the end whatever you try to do about it Richard. Don't beat yourself up about it.

It's always nice to reminisce about the pets we have had in our lives. Nice shot of these two dogs from your past. I'm sorry about the baby bird. But such is the way of life for the animals in nature. Too bad, but you tried.

Poor little bird! :-(

Great capture! Sorry to hear about the little bird!

Love for our pets often leads us to forget that they are still animals, driven by instinct and therefore behave according to nature. It's hard to say but it is so!

Nice capture, sorry about the bird, strange thing you said about Penny acting like a cat, because, I actually had a cat named that but I spelled it Pennie, and she was as stubborn as a mule and lived to be 19 years old, lol. The cat I have now called Celina looks a lot like her but has more orange in her striped coat and her tail is black and white striped just like my other cat, Pearl's was, whom my ex has now. She was a stray that ended up meowing at my 2nd floor apt. door one night and when I opened it to see what the noise was she ran inside, she was half starved and skinny as a rail, but fat and healthy now three years later, lol. I think the good Lord gave me back both my cats combined as one, lol. I know that sounds crazy but if you saw her and what my other two cats had looked like, you'd see what I mean....:)))

We humans do not have the habit of being indifferent to some small victims of dog or cat ... and yet in the wild game reserves, in the movies I watch, we learn that the stupidity of Nature is quye each species is a predator at least another ... like those insects that lay eggs in the caterpillars body so that their offspring may eat up ... Man that is still for a long time for Wolf the man !!! Your dogs were superb ... their problem is that they do not live more than 12 to 15 years ...

Great photo of these two lovely dogs, Richard. That's sad about the baby bird, but once they fall out of or otherwise get out of the nest before they fledge. it seems their chances are slim to none. You did what you could to help, but nature has the final say, I guess.

My dog would probably run the other way. I would hate to clear the poor things away. I have seen quite a few dead bodies work wise but animals I never can seem to handle Cathy xoxoxox
