Description
Some of you may know that this past Monday, August 10, was World Lion Day. Of course, with the horrific killing of Cecil, the African lion has become highlighted as well as the "sport" of trophy hunting. What many people do not realize is that at the current rate of attrition, the wild lion could become extinct by 2050. I would hope that ecotourism becomes more popular than trophy hunting. It is certainly more lucrative. Time will only tell.
Thanks for dropping by. Do appreciate your comments :).

Impressionante obra minha amiga é muito triste matar os animais ,pobre leão Cecil foi morto e deixou os baby, assim muitos animais são mortos por caçadores só para se divertirem, temos que proteger os animais.+++++++++++++5

back when I was working some clients asked me to hang their "trophies". I was already there working and I hardly ever turned down money so I did hang them. I never enjoyed seeing the beautiful animals that were robbed of the life for someone's amusement . these were wealthy people that would go to Africa on a regular basis on safaris . each day multitudes of people are being killed also all over the world. the Lion (deserves to live) draws more attention

Let's hope ecotourism does become more popular and the children in the future can enjoy seeing the animals in the wild instead of reading about them in books because the animals are no longer here.Lovely image!!!!!!

So sorry that I missed this Barb. It is heart breaking to think that there are still people who want to kill for the sake of "sport" and trophy. Especially to kill a creature as magnificent as Cecil was - there was no reason at all. And the fact that these acts are considered legal just adds to the tragedy.
