Description
The title is a play on the concept of a nun's habit.
A little background on Egyptian wigs:
A shaved head was a sign of nobility during most of the Egyptian kingdoms, however most Egyptians kept their heads covered. Wigs were worn in place of headdresses or, for special occasions, with elaborate headdresses. Slaves and servants were prohibited by Egyptian law from shaving their heads or wearing wigs.
The ancient Egyptians started wearing wigs from the earliest dynasties (c. 3200 BCE). These earlier wigs for both men and women were closely cropped with rows of short curls or slightly longer straight hair. In later kingdoms, some women began to grow their hair longer and wore wigs of greater length and bulk that showed their natural hair beneath. Over time, styles changed and became more elaborate for both men and women. For special occasions, wigs were decorated with gold, braided with colorful ribbons, or adorned with beads. Wigs were made even more elaborate with the addition of golden bands, caps, and fancy headbands. Wigs were considered by upper-class Egyptian men and women as an essential part of their wardrobe. Wearing a wig signaled a person's rank in Egyptian society.
Been a while since I have posted here at Rosity. Reason being that I have been totally involved in Chloe's care--going on two years now with the cancer thang. She's still with me, and has outlived the doctor's prognosis/expectations by more than a year. Just tons of work with all the research and the various nutraceuticals that she receives each day. But certainly the time, effort and expense are worth it--she's my bestest of friends. She's now in her 14th year and quite frankly, she has never looked better and her mood is still fresh and feisty :)
Anyway, do hope all are well and many thanks for dropping by.

welcome back! Glad that Chloe is OK. wonderful image. Wigs were a frequent poetic metaphor for "having sex." Saying "tonight I'll put a perfumed wig on" was an clear invitation for sexual intercourse. ;-)

I wanted to ask you about Chloe yesterday. I know how much you loved her. It's such a shame that a life so loving and pure lasts only a short time.
