Description

The Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star had quite a useful career, despite it's WW 2 lineage. The aircraft began as the TF-80 training variant of the original P-80 jet fighter. The T-33A followed the basic straight, low wing design of the TF-80 with a its two seat configuration for instructor and pilot, lengthened fuselage, and an Allison turbojet engine. The distinctive wingtip tanks were necessary to feed the thirsty turbojet, and gave the T-33 a range of 1,275 miles with a speed of 600 mph. The modified p-80 design proved to be ably fitted to its new trainer configuration, and was produced in a number of variants. The T-33 was used as a trainer by the US Navy till 1970, and by the USAF as a trainer, with variants also serving as reconnaissance and ground attack platforms. The Canadian Canadair company produced the TC-33A "Silver Star" under license from Lockheed and was used extensively as an export to many world air forces. The Hellenic Air Force of Greece continued to use the T-33A in service until it was retired officially in 1990. A truly classic bird! it brings back memories of the tv show "Steve Canyon". T-33A "Shooting Star: Beautifully and masterfully modeled, and generously shared for free at sharecg by Pedro Caparros. Thank you very much Pedro. Another great model for the roster. Very cool shot, "Razor". Always loved this first generation jet. If I remember Steve Canyon correctly, his plane of choice was the F-102 Delta Dagger, although there were plenty of stock images of the T-33 and other aircraft on the show. Nice presentation and render. It has a little bit of that "Neiwil" feel to it. Love it!!!

Nice job. My jet when I was little (like 1950s). And Steve Canyon, too. Nice to see 2 of them taking off. I even had a red soft plastic one received in a cereal box (whatever happened to those kiddie surprises? I got a small green dinosaur, too). Keep up the good work. A side view next, maybe? :-)

Great image ! It's an habitude for you ! I am currently working on a version of the Fouga Magister Dassault. Is there not an air of family?

Fantastic image, nice feel of 'in a hurry to get somewhere'....don't think we ever got Steve Canyon over here...sounds like my kind of show, we got Champion The Wonder Horse :-( Got a smile from Greywolf44's comment.....though this does look a bit like the Southern end of The Plant 'outfield'...)

Awesome picture, with a great staging even see you've also reworked the model to show the landing gear partially retracted. According to Wikipedia, the T-33 has been in service with 42 air forces and is still flying in Bolivia. I chose for my model textures 4 southern European countries hardest hit by the crisis. Thank you very much for the mention.
