Description

Over and over again, these two Black-Headed Gulls sang to each other during their mating ritual, first the one on the left and then the one on the right. I watched them for about 20 minutes and they were still courting each other when I left them. Thanks very much for your views and comments.

This is fantastic! A capture for the ages. You caught the couple as if it were a Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald operetta, Maria. And they lived happily ever after. Excellent composition of clarity, contrast, and loving devotion.

you get this subtle 'glow' in your birds, an uncanny sense that there's light inside them, and not just 'on' them...these two have that glow. And the contrasts of their blacks and whites and grays are almost like they're painted on with the subtlest brush...and you gave us just enough detail in the sand and water to give them a 'ground', while the rest is quiet 'space'---ie, in the sands and water. Beautifully done, Maria; and their mating ritual is caught at a classic moment of giving and receiving. Timeless. Another beautiful bird capture from you, which is redundant to say and wholly truthful...
