Description
Old and New: The mirror, I've had for years.
The antique lamp was my Grandmother's since my Dad was a little tyke.
The 1970's dark paneling walls I dapple painted in various shades of green.
The Spider Lilies bloomed this week as they always do the first week of October.
I usually leave them outside, but since my Dad would have been 100 years old this week, I brought them into the dining room.
Thanks very much for your views and comments.

Such elegance is going out of this arrangement, dear Maria. The flowers are a great bonus by this wonderful tribute.

I like this a lot. It reminds me of Andrea's "Flowers in the House" series. Lovely image!

Great composition in this capture of the nostalgic objects, Maria. I like the cast shadows, which gives the image depth.

back to your still lifes...each item has a life to itself...there's a certain electricity in the vases, the mirror, the wall, etc. But it's also a 'group' shot, and it all comes together because of your composition, and the way the green wall encases it all and shows up in the reflection as well. The lighting---with shadows---adds to your native abstract abilities, which I've seen enough to know you have them deeply inside you. (Ie, they're not just "playing around"; it's that your sense of abstraction runs deep.) I love the room off to the left, in the mirror, and the cross---they add accents to the whole. And that the center lamp adds strong white to the piece, when everything else is green, beige, reds, browns, etc. With your lace-covered table as a base...A very sweet still life.
