Description

The red wolf is not the only endangered species found at the Point Defiance Zoo. The zoo also has a pair of clouded leopards. The clouded leopard is a cat found from the Himalayan foothills through mainland Southeast Asia into China. On May 22nd, 2015, four cubs were born to Chai Li and her mate Nah Fun. They are hand fed several times a day and the public is invited to watch. At the appointed time there is a mad scramble to get close to the enclosure. The focus here is crap but I wanted you to see the little one. We were told by the staff that the adults are very shy and we were unlikely to see them. I did, however, catch one of the parents napping in a tree.

Wonderful to see these beauties! I haven't been to see the babies yet; my last visit there was in 2012. I did get a shot of one of the adults, it's posted in my gallery here; https://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/clouded-leopard/2372104/ Not at all sharp as it was through the glass and from a distance, but they are amazingly beautiful creatures.
