I had hoped to see the big cats at the Portland Zoo but it was so hot that all I could see, when I found them, were lumps of fur lying in the shade pretending to be dead. At Fort Defiance my luck changed. I spent an hour with the pair of tigers they have there.

What a beauty! I forget what type these are, I'm thinking Sumatran perhaps? Not that I could tell, just that they are a little smaller than the Bengals at Cougar Mountain Zoo. This is an arrestingly lovely portrait!
