Much to be read about this awe inspiring place if you care to look it up on your search engine.
The tower is/was a plug to an extinct volcano and many millions of years has eroded the land all around to leave this as it is.
This is a very sacred place to the Indian tribes in the area.

I can't look at this without thinking of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". A fantastic and rather unique POV. It looks a bit like a high rise building.
