Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a cute bag, but a bit too small for my camera. Super shot, it looks like a small figure.

LOL, and I imagined a large one at first. My stuff wouldn't fit, but it's cute as can be! Handy to wear on a belt, kinda like what was popular in the US years ago, ummm.... can only amend to say f.u.nny pack, as I learned that definition is totally different in the UK!

I'm at an hour, and I only did 6 pieces! I'm so damned slow. But I'll be back in the coming days, for more. I don't know why I end with this, it'a just it's so "there," and so visceral. And your whole-white background just makes this little creature stand out. I love the frontal feel to it; and, in zoom, it's a big Creature. It has a face. I agree that there's an allure to miniature things. Sometimes they're worth having just to look at. I love the silly pattern behind the mush---that white triangle esp. And the "open mouth" of the shot. And the two ears on either side (flopping off of little cords.) and the viking helmet on top. (That nose guard you see on old English and old Germanic head gear.) (Do you have any of those, lol? Any big 8th C metal head gears, with nose guard?) And the little button on the bottom---looks like a gas mask from WW I. A delightful in-our-faces shot of a little utilitarian thing...but, in a big shot like this, it becomes a living creature. And all that white makes it look like a museum piece, discovered, conserved and placed in the museum. Love what you did with it...Andrea, there's so much more I want to comment on, but I'm called away and I have to go now. But I'll be back. I love how you show us the things from your life, and transform them into a whole menagerie of art. It's a continual dance. Have a fine Tuesday!
