Description
After lunch we were introduced to Julián and his very cool Panama hat. He took us on a walking tour of Havana’s Colon Cemetery (Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón), recognized as the most important in Latin America. It was founded in 1876 on 140 acres in the Vedado neighborhood of Havana and was designed by the Spanish architect Calixto Arellano de Loira y Cardoso. Calixto died before his work was completed and became its first occupant.

He looks like a man who is happy with his lot and I bet he is not a rich person. Super portrait Mark.

I've heard of people who want to be the first to try his own creations, but I think Calixto exaggerated a little! :) What a fantastic portrait Mark!

An animated portrait and a cool capture Mark - I like it ... I will go and check now a few more, to understand what has been going on in your gallery and what I had missed recently ...

I haven't had much time to be around Rendo, to leave comments - but I will try to get around soon, as time is a bit of a rare commodity lately - always busy, busy, busy ;))

oh, a very engaging portrait (with andrea and others), a wonderful candid...he's talking to you, explaining, reaching out subtly but engagingly...head tilted, one hand open, inviting: a terrific portrait. And you lined up his head (whether by intention or just intuition) with one of the high stones behind him, continuing his line...Wonderful portrait. And real clarity too. Fine work on this!

I've been looking forward to getting caught up with my work here so I could get back to see Cuba with you! This is my first stop, and just this one image would have been worth the wait. What a fine portrait! Candid, but not goofy (as some candids can be), and the depth of field is perfect. We can see he's in a cemetery, but it it's just background. What's important is Julian as a person, and this is SO engaging and attractive! The eye contact is superb. wild applause Outstanding work!
