note: it was a strange, overcast day, so I went with the mood...

There is potentially tremendous symbolism here, but even without any meaning the shadows and the stillness make a superb image.

Wonderful lines and shadows; the high contrast really draws the eye to the verticals and their sweep of diagonal trails. Well seen!

Very interesting composition the scene can be interpreted in several ways some of which are very dire and disheartening

This capture looks to me very sad, abandonned and rusty swings, no more kids in that area!?!

The color, the light of the static composition give me the idea of a distressing immobility almost post atomic destruction. Superb artwork !!!

First of all, I echo all of the above. Atmosphere and mood dominate this photograph to the extreme, Mark, and I love the POV. This must have been after an overnight shower. It looks Chicago cold and wet out there. Great repetition and contrast on the swings, with their sharply defined chains and seats, well contrasted against the dark and light of the pavement and disparately lit background. Love those shadows, to boot. Urban photography at its best! And, I've got to lie down and take a respite from the comments....my back is killing me.

One can almost hear the sounds of children playing - this has such a wonderful feel. I love the shadows.. One of those days where it can't quite decide whether to be sunny or cloudy, so it does a little of each.

I'm immediately drawn to the ground, and the way the swings and their shadows look against that dark background. Wonderful drama!
