Description
Final grotto shot. Another kind of bizarre scene - are those bat wings ears on a grotesque face? Not quite sure how else to interpret it. Seems like this kind of thing may be one of the precursors of what would centuries later become surrealism...
Pleas zoom.

Fascinating contrast between the rough and the smooth parts. Somehow I see a big mouth. Superb shot!

it sure feels like surrealism, and goopy droopy surrealism at that. A great shot, Claude, your angle is terrific, as is your light and dark contrast, and your composition: The balustrades (or little pillars) at top are a great accent. This shot is another super symmetric shot shattering all bets about symmetry being a shot-killer. The contrasts, alone, between that grungy gray and the creamy white is terrific. I think this is one of the best shots of this place. And yeah, he's got bat wings for ears, and he's in need of a dentist, and his arms might need a little muscle toning, but whoa what a shot. Like a building with clumps of papier mache. I love this shot!

Hmmmm ... I've looked at all the grotto shots now, and ... I don't get it! Maybe it's too baroque, or too ... I don't know ... just too intricate in general. However, your photography of the place is wonderful! You've caught all that detail, and with enough contrast to show it all off. Excellent work!
