Description
Last two from the grotto today. I found this statue kind of bizarre - not sure what that thing around his waist is or what he's got tucked under his arm. I do see what definitely looks like a human face next to his right shoulder though...

i was wondering why your travel shots always look so exotic, and I realized it's as much the way you make a picture as the subjects themselves. (You would probably find electric and exotic shots in a small Connecticut town.) Your crop puts this man right in the midst of it all. And your detail on these crazy stalactite and stalagmite formations is stunning. I have no clue why his loin cloth looks like something grew on him, lol (though he might wanna check with a doctor, during his next coffee break); and as for the head in back of his---maybe he killed the guy. He's carrying a slain lion, I think. Whoever he is, he fits right in with that background. A wild photo. And there's a plaque there, and it's somehow fitting we can't read it lol: Something about this shot tells us, it wouldn't explain very much. A wild visceral shot.

Fascinating closeup of this enigmatic carving; I'm with Mark, looks like probably a lion of some sort that he's killed, perhaps with the tree that he has on his shoulder as a club. I'm also baffled about his garb, that is a wild belt!

He's Bacchus or Dionysus. If you look him up all will be explained!
