Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Wow! And yet again you introduce to us something I've never seen or heard of. Wonderful close up. (and the tiny little brown spot in the center that looks like some kind of slug?)

Maria said it perfectly. I Learn a ton here, and having seen a recent shot of your book collection, it's obvious you've learned a boatload about nature, including the bizarre exotic world of fungi. This looks like a headdress. And yeah, there's a slug there! Hangin' out, enjoying the view. (What must it be like to go through life being called "a slug"?) These tentacles are almost 'frosted'. Another eye popping piece of nature from you, all from your environs. Wonderful capture, Andrea.
(Did I tell you my only fungus joke? Here goes: A mushroom goes to a bar and asks for a drink. The bartender says, "we don't serve mushrooms." The mushroom says, "I"m not a mushroom." The bartender says, "no, you're a mushroom." The mushroom says: "Look: I want a drink, and I want it now!" The bartender says: "Sir? We don't serve mushrooms, and you're a mushroom!" And the mushroom says: "Nope: You're wrong. I'm a fun guy!") (fungi??? I told you it wasn't funny...)

The baby slug gives this an extra little pizzaz! Such an incredible form, with all those antlers.

Reminds somehow of deer antlers. Excellent shot, fantastic details and colours.

Another cool find, I haven't seen these in real life; your garden is a wealth of opportunity!

Very unique (in my experience at least) & a wonderful shot of a small piece of the natural world that brings out all it's dazzling glory. You have a great eye for this kind of hidden beauty...

Xylaria longipes. Sounds like a medieval character to me. Interesting how so many of your fungi look like inhabitants of an exoplanet we might visit in the distant future.
This could work well as an image for one of your song lyric challenges:
Put your hands up in the air, wave 'em like you just don't care ~ Bounce
And, yes, they do look like antlers.
