Description
Hand in hand Tate and I begin catching up to the others, they are busy discussing something as we approach. It's Grys who turns and acknowledges us first.
"We're going to look around a little, make sure the area is clear." He says. "Why don't you guys see if you can find a good spot to set up for the night."
As the three brothers begin moving off into the ruins, Titan begins tugging on the cloth covering my hip and is pointing frantically towards Crete. He looks very worked up, Worried something is wrong I kneel down to be level with him, this allows me to look directly into his over sized eyes.
"What is it?" I ask.
Titan continues gesturing towards Crete, I believe I know what he's trying to say so I rise back up to my feet.
"You want to go with them?" I ask, worried I'm right.
No sooner do the words leave my mouth and Titan forms an ear to ear grin, he begins dancing excitedly. This doesn't sit well with me, for reasons I don't understand he seems to have taken a fondness to Crete.
"What? No." I tell him. "Stay with us, I don't trust them, your safer with Tate."
The dancing stops and his ear to ear grin is replaced with a frown. He looks up at Tate and his ears droop making him look sad and miserable. He turns away, kicking up dirt as he goes.
"Guess he doesn't like me." Says Tate with a edge of sadness. "I like the little guys, I thought we formed a bond in the mountain."
"It's not you, he just likes excitement and has taken a liking to Crete." I tell him as I turn back towards Titan.
"Please don't be mad, I'm just looking out for you." My words seem to fall upon deaf ears as Titan continues to sulk. That's when I feel Bit hugging my leg. I look down and all I see is his ridiculous but adorable toothy grin. I give the little guy credit, he makes me smile.
Tate spots two connecting stone walls forming a corner and starts to move towards them.
"It's an excellent place to set up a camp, our backs will remain safe and we will have a clear view of anything coming." He tells me.
Not disagreeing I instruct Bit and Titan to start collecting rubble to form a pit enclosure, a fire will be nice after the sun sets. Finding anything that will burn is going to be the real problem however, everything seems to be made of stone, then it hits me! " The bridge." I say. "We can take the wood planks from the bridge, they will be perfect for the fire.
Meanwhile Crete, Hades and Grys continue searching the ruins.
"I can't wrap my head around what this used to be." Says Hades. "Castle ruins maybe..."
"That's what baffles you?" Interrupts Grys. "Not this enormous path system that floats?"
Hades chuckles. "You have a point, I'm just focusing on the here and now."
"QUIET...I thought I heard something." Says Crete sternly.
The three brothers stop to listen, but only silence seems present.
As Crete scans the area he begins to feel troubled by the two men standing along side him, he knows they are his brothers, but without his memories they are no better than strangers and that is what he feels towards them. Right now however he has more immediate concerns to worry about, he has the feeling they are being watched. He knows he heard something, but it was faint and only lasted for an instant.
"Darkness is falling quickly, whatever light we have to look around is fading fast. We should head back towards the others." Says Hades.
"Good call." Replies Grys.
They are probably right, but Crete knows something is here, something dangerous.
"Crete, we've lost the light." Says Grys sounding aggravated. "We're asking for trouble if stay out here."
But Crete knows something isn't right, he doesn't like feeling hunted, he's the hunter! So whatever is out here better be ready, he's in no mood for games. Some rubble shifts to our right and this time the others hear it too. We all spin to look, but none of us manage to catch a glimpse of what caused the sound. Instinctively Crete begins moving in that direction but is quickly stopped by Hades who now has a hand on his chest blocking his path.
"The light is gone brother, tackling the unknown in the dark is unwise." He says.
Normally when someone blocks my path or prevents me from something, anger sets in and overtakes me quickly. With Hades for some reason it's different, I find this very concerning. I attempt to stare him down but he doesn't give in, in fact the prick begins smiling which then causes me to smile.
"Hayden is unarmed and we have no idea what Tate is capable of, we now know we are not alone here. I don't think its wise to leave them alone any longer." Says Hades with a hand still on his brothers chest.
Grys turns to head back the way we came. "I'm heading back, now's not the time to be separated." He says.
So Grys has sided with Hades, he always seems to side with Hades and that concerns me. Thinks Crete. This may prove to be problematic in the future.
With Grys moving away, it's now just me and Hades who gestures me to follow as well. Hades takes a few steps before turning back to me.
"Stay with us brother...we'll need you before the night is through."
