.... began at 4am today, after several months of site preparation, Illuminated by a barrage of flood lights, a reinforced frame is filled by approximately 20 truck loads of fresh cement. This giant concrete block, sitting amid a larger compacted red clay brick, is the foundation of our new neighbor. Skilled workmen have fought rain, falling leaves and a variety of complications, preparing a soon to emerge "child of the city". Coordination of this event filled the streets and neighboring yards for an entire day, the last man retiring at sundown, to take his hard earned day of rest before resuming work on Monday. I cannot begin to understand the process of "floating" which took place by ridden machines being hoisted upon a settling mixture, then vibrated and smoothed to a mirror finish, but I do appreciate the efforts which have gone into conception of this project. I anticipate a shining jewel to radiate from the earth within a few months... a complete makeover for a place once called home.
