Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

There must be amazing shadows at times!

again, you shot from a unique angle, giving us mainly the 'roof' of the pergola; and the compression of space makes it a big collection of white slats and geometric checkerboards. With those paper lanterns, it's a real geometric 'party'. It's really white too! How does your sister keep it that way??? A real marilyn image, with the world below as just a sliver. More buoyant light-filled work from you, Marilyn. Hope you had a good holiday.

I bet you could get some great monochromatic shots from this too!

It makes a wonderful pattern against the sky, and the lantern accents are perfect!
