Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I love fireworks.... on TV.... But I stay inside on New Years eve. But this makes a lovely and colorful shot, Andrea :)

So maybe governments should incorporate gunpowder into their paper money so people could just light it and skip the middlemen? I also hate the "amateur" explosions in the neighborhood!

Now this piece tells the complete truth.

Don't get me started on the dam things. Dislike them intensly.

lol, Denise. You created a kind of photographic processional, a formal visual fireworks made of fireworks. I love the standing-at-attention feeling of it all. At first I thought they were big crayons! And your postwork gave them the necessary grunge and grit to give them character. I too don't like fireworks by people in the neighborhood, and they're not too safe either. I'm glad to hear that it's not just an urban thing---you get amateur blast-fests too. Well, your shot is a big marching lineup, and I really like it. I tried to see the flickr, but flickr held up forever, never loading on the browser. (All other sites are working fine.) So I'll come back later to see it. Fine work on this, in the meantime.

Isn't it a bit early to be selling fireworks for New Years? Or is this for another holiday? Here there are laws dictating exactly how many days (only a few) before a holiday they can be sold and are strictly monitored. "money to burn" is right!

I've said before and I'll say it again, people with more money than brains. Every July 4th I stand out in the dark and wait for a ten minute display, hoping to get a decent picture. Spectacular, yes, but I wouldn't invest my own money.
