nice colors and I like the way the trees frame the buildings.

Naked against the sky and buildings. You chose nature over artificiality, possibly subconsciously, in this dawn or dusk capture, Mark. Sterling composition, contrast and silhouetting in this image, my friend.

I like it!

That's what rules are for - to be broken. Nice sunset colors in this shot.

I agree with CavalierLady - rules are meant to be broken. One of my favorite quotes is "If they give you ruled paper, write the other way." (Juan Ramon Jimenez), which Ray Bradbury used as an epigraph for "Fahrenheit 451". Creative people are natural rule breakers...

Oooh, the colours!!!!! I would be standing there in awe until it was full dark and no colour left at all. And there are rules????

WOW!!! Fantastic Capture!!! I disagree, the trees in front of the buildings is what make this shot art vs. just a Photo!!! Excellent Job!!!!

look good to me.

obstructions are always a challenge unless one incorporates them into the picture like you have

Oh man, if I followed the rules, I'd never have any fun!! Glad you broke em for this shot cuz it's a great one!!

So now we have our wanderer from out of the wastelands (mentioned in "Unreal City: Strange Oasis") hiding behind the trees wondering if it is safe to explore this strange city. I think the fact that the Sears/Willits/Marmaduke Tower is perfectly framed by the two trees is part of what makes this work so well.
As for the rules, I like what Grace Hopper said. She was a rear admiral in the United States Navy and developer of the first compiler for a computer programming language (COBOL). "It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission."

Uncredible photography. Well done!

I love that Grace Hopper quote!
And i also like the feel of hiding behind these trees before the dangerous looming buildings notice me and attack!

LOL! at Andrea Yes, I have learned alot from you, Mark. Especially, that it is ok to photograph a motif with a tree trunk in the forground, if you just do it right. You have prooved it plenty of times for me, I admit :-)

There is something prophetic here maybe?... The two trees, organic, alive... standing alone against the cold steel of the city.
oddment
I like the contrasting, yet subtle, hues in this.
Rules... I've heard of such things. Do you think they really exist?
