Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Nice!
Krittermom
This one is my favorite. I love the fall colors and the textures in this.

dttio helle and krittermom...it does look brain-like, and it has very autumnal colors. I had to look up "gall," as I didn't know the term at all. Wow...what a strange beast this is! And your flickr photo is downright primal. I can see why you saved it: Even shriveled, it's primal. Your isolating it against a near-black background makes it another museum shot (you've done several); while we can see the texture of the mat/fabric it's sitting on, it still is a "solo" shot against black. And the shot's composed perfectly from one corner to the other...Basically, Andrea, it looks like the kind of creature that grade B horror films were made about---like those pods that attack you when you're asleep, and turn you into a zombie. (Stay awake! Though if you have any neighbors you don't like...) Wonderful shot and vignetting, and another complete surprise of nature from you...

How interesting! I think it's fantastic in it's current form, but not sure I would have touched it when it was fresh. Wonderful shot. You have an amazing eye for these things!
