Description
Sorry about the disappearance of 4 images: It's too complicated to explain, but nothing was wrong, just a messup with some children I was playing with---all my mis-steps. All's ok, and I'll repost at a later date.
I saw all your comments, and thank you very much. You've all been grand with this "scrapbook" series, and I appreciate it greatly!
Have a good Saturday,
Mark
Fuller zoomed.
(Hope you're not grossed out by a cockroach--I did insect studies years ago, and this was a result. All pencils, pens and inks.)
(Also, the top one was originally made for Helle! But this version was colored a bit...)

I have a soft spot for cockroaches providing they don't appear in my house. Love all these, and the freedom of line in them all.

A lovely montage Mark, all beautifully drawn. They all look very real with excellent detail. I can look at cockroaches but I'm so glad we don't have them here yet though they are making their way down New Zealand so I guess it wont be long before they are here. Thank you so much for your visit to my posting and for the lovely welcoming comments you made. It is lovely to be back again and I hope to catch up on your postings as time permits. I see there have been a lot of changes which I will take a while to catch up with.

Nature would also make a nice title for this. I especially love the bear. It is fun to see how you create very recognizable with seemingly random pen strokes.

This should be hanging on a wall in a brick-and-mortar gallery, Mark! Most excellent work, my friend!
Well, that explains a few things.... I thought Rendo was freaking out again when I clicked the links to those images, and it just went to the gallery browse page.... That'll teach me not to get so far behind! LOL

Someone once said that after a nuclear war the only living things left would be cockroaches. I don't want them in my home but they are fascinating creatures. You manage to create a fine representation with just a few lines. An excellent talent. And on the other side is the wonderful modeling on the bear, giving it a terrific 3D effect. Not quite sure about the top image except it looks like foliage climbing up structures that look like flatworms.

I like your description better than what it actually is! It's just a piece of fence, with leaves growing on it. I never finished the drawing, so it's an official "excerpt". Taken from a photo...

Nicely done images dear Marc!

Beautiful drawing mark !!!

OH Your drawings are always so beautiful and interesting. The first with the fence is so lovely with the climbing plants and the deep shadows and the middle shadows with your beautiful crosshatch. And you got a really great render of the bear. It has the perfect shape and deep shadows to make it look more 3D and you made the fur look naturally rough, if I can use that word for it. The toach is not my kind of animal, even though I haven see one since I lived in Israel. :-) It is one nasty roach alright :-)

Alas, UteBigSmile misspelled your name again. The only time cockroaches gross me out is when they run amok on my property. The species has been around from time immemorial, and I understand it is the only insect that can withstand radiation, and might be the only life form left alive after an atomic apocalypse. But I digress. Splendid montage of your olde pen and ink drawings, Mark, the top one a very nice bit of foliage definition for Helle, while the bear, the symbol on the flag of California, just shows how you have this drawing medium down pat. As for the cockroach, it's well depicted in its usual very dark environs. Get out the insect spray I tell you, and do away with this vermin!

I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your "scrapbook" postings and revisiting so many of your wonderful hand-done pieces. The grasses have always been my favorites. You know, if you want to make an album in order to separate these out from the rest of your gallery, I'd be happy to guide you through the process. It would be a wonderful addition to your space here. Just 'cause I like albums ... of course you should listen to everything I say and then go off and do whatever the heck you want to do. :P :D

I do love your sketches; your lines are always so true, especially in the sparser quick sketches, it seems the fewer the lines the more the shape is revealed!
