Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I love the grainy look in this type of candid shot Andrea :)

Great shot and the graininess helps make the shot, looks like old Tri X film thats been pushed a stop.

Interesting that I open the ladies who lunch as I am at a restaurant to have lunch.

Beautiful Work,
Krittermom
Love the expressions also. I am sure they would not be quite as delighted with the look though! I try to never be in front of a camera as I always look like that in pictures 😳

Very nice candid shot. Added grain works well here and gives the feel that it could be this year or a couple of decades ago.

OK, either you know these women or you are invisible. A superb candid shot. I really like the cards in the background. You can choose which age you want to lie about.

I think the graininess adds a lot to the image Great capture
BTW I haven't heard that expression in a long time

RE Fuji left a fine comment about grain, in the flickr version. And you got some great comments here too. And yes, I haven't heard "chinwag" in a while either---though, really, that's a truly British phrase, not American. And I agree that the grain adds a sense of either immediacy or age to the piece. And lol, Krittermom, about being photographed. BUT. I'm not talking about the picture! The color shot brings out those cards and papers and its'a rich shot. The black and white brings out the immediacy of the people, the randomness and 'moment' of the photo. And lol, Mark, about picking the age you want to lie about. (I'll take anything under 50, as I'm 66 and 3/4s. Notice how I know the fraction...pitiful...) In zoom this has immediacy and roughness, suiting the energy between these ladies. And, in the smaller version (display), it's an intense people shot with the beauty of black and white. Their expressions are pure people-stuff; and I love those outfits, that both of them are in stripes, and the lady's hat is the cat's meow. Another fine 'street capture' from you, Andrea. And btw, ever since I read about Isadore Duncan dying because her scarf got caught in a car wheel, I've never worn a scarf like that. Just seeing it makes me want to yell, "Lady! Undo your scarf!" Amazing how things stay with us...
