My mouth is watering, just thinking of 'Lebkuchen' (German for Gingerbread) and that in itself brings back very fond memories for me, of Christmas in Europe, even the smell of the bakery must be overwhelming, did you go in and buy some ? and what a wicked looking entrance, it's also eye-candy ! I simply love this...

I think you whetted some major palettes here (in the comments)! Perhaps a 'tourist' storefront, but your hues and clarified textures, and the frontal impact of your way with these facades make this like a keepsake, or a folk painting. You bring out hues so beautifully, and balance contrasts as well---scenes like this become a real invitation. The dark interior is so inviting next to this very bright exterior. And the detail on the stones and steps, as well as the visible decay on the bldg, is fine contrast to those bright hues above. Is Palenky akin to Palenka or Palinka? I ask because the latter is an E. European drink that's quite strong, and takes a lot of getting used to. (They got some mean brandies in E. Europe.) You turned what could be a knick-knacky touristy shot into a beautiful piece of folk culture. Even the moulding on top is just right. I love this.

Old gingerbread? I guess they probably mean old-style...the niceties of language sometimes fail in the translation. What an old-world sort of storefront, no chrome and glass in this place. Bet it smelled amazing! Stunning shot of this little haven!
