Description

I'xo'po was very curious about the variety of movements of the facial musculature of the bipod in the terrarium, and the odour of the chemicals oozing from its skin pores. He assumed that it was making sounds from the cavity in its head, but the frequency was too low for him to make out. Never mind, he had plenty of time to investigate this ugly specimen... Rendered in Vue Infinite 2015, minor post work and signature in Photoshop CC. My entry to the Vue Sci-Fi Group competition on Facebook. Craig

First, I wish you luck on the competition! It's a delightful and misty image, eerie and mysterious. Your description is all we need...seeing this human from another creature's perspective. I'xo'po (an almost Chinese name!) is seen from the back, shrouded in mists, as he looks into this human specimen. And the human---a female---is lit more than anything else in the image: We are asked to ponder her along with him, because of your lighting. I notice you left out her gender---referring to her as "it": Nice touch, as I'xo'po wouldn't know, upon first study, what her gender was. (Perhaps he doesn't understand 'gender' at all.) You've got such an interesting perspective on the terrarium---the top is tilted, or else there's a ghost image above it, like another chamber that remains veiled in mist. And that's a pretty sparse environment, inside: Rocks and either rock or sand for ground. (I'xo'po might wanna throw in a piece of fruit, or some lettuce or something.) The human looks fairly ok with all this, even smiling. (Fascinating.) And the rest of the image is enveloped in deep green clouds. Much beauty here; and it poses lots of questions...a fine lead-in to a story. Beautifully done, with your usual finesse; and I really like that the woman is smiling---maybe there isn't as much threat here as we think. Or maybe she's just naive, or too stunned to do anything else. Done with finesse on all levels. More fine work from you, Craig.

"You should be an astronaut." He said. "... Feel the acceleration of solid fuel rockets, see the Earth from orbit, explore new galaxies... Trust me, you'll LOVE it!"

Travelling with solid fuel rockets wasn't the problem. It's when we slid through the space-time discontinuity into interspace that the fan got seriously soiled...!
