Description

A tree shot from the forest not far from home. In very old days, they came to this forest to cut masts for the big ships, because the best and most streight trees were here.. and you see, they still can be :) Thanks for viewing and commenting. :-)

ooh, a big sweeping capture of a majestic tree...and it really is straight. Your near white sky really lets the tree sing; and I'm amazed at how high the trunk goes before most of the branches show-up. A towering view, Helle, and quite awe inspiring. Zoom really shows how majestic your shot is.

We, too, had massive high forests, in our Midwest (esp the upper Midwest), which were cut down long ago for building and industry. (So was much of our original prairie---cut down for farmland.) I didn't know that the trees of your area were so sought out. I wonder if they were sought across Northern Europe, or just in the local area. In any case, they're stunning to look at...)

This view really puts us in our place, doesn't it? I feel positively tiny looking at it. Wonderful perspective and bright colour!

I hope this tree creates seeds... Nuts falling from that height would really hurt!

Epically awesome in this neck crunching capture of the massive arboreal giant, as it towers deep into the sky, with the stellar textures in the trunk and large bloom at the top.

We have the tall, straight trees in Washington too, but not down here in Texas! Bill has just finished reading a book about the tall, southern long-leaf pine trees that covered the southeast section of the US (and of course he shared more with me than I strictly needed to know! LOL!) and it's amazing how many trees were cut and cut and cut until there were none left.
