Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

This is a truly festive image ! But in front of me, there is a curious shape ... a glass pawn? and inside, a mysterious and very colorful shape , that seems to me a sat person, with legs crossed perhaps reading(?) but so tranquil in contrast with the party around...This glass makes me think also, in the lamp of Aladdin ! There is great joy and fun with colors and lights exploding everywhere. I see happy faces, clearly, in each side of the central 'glass' and also many signals of music and movements of dancing. You did a real feast Andrea! A fabulous gift for the BD of our dear friend Helle:)

yyyyesss! Love this! And I'm with Ana, there's a seated person inside the front glass thing. (Vase? Ornament? bottle?) It could be Aladdin, as she says; or a buddha. ANd there's print on it too---we have to read sideways to see it. And all those swirly lines, and sweeping and swooping hues---man, it's a big birthday festival put on by glass and its pals, for Helle. And, in full zoom, it takes over the room! Great gift, ANdrea...And Happy Birthday Helle! And many, many more! What a wonderful gift Andrea made for you! (Having a birthday the day after Christmas has gotta be rough! I suppose the only worse time would be Christmas day itself: "Who did you say was born on my birthday?") Love this image!
