Description

This is for Helle (helanker). Solstice moons... Helle was one of the first people I met here. It was on the 2D Forum, which---at that time (2008)---was a rollicking party of immensely talented 2D artists who shared endless drawings, paintings, stories and more. Mind you, I don't include myself in that talent-pool: I'd just returned to 2D; and, even at my best, I couldn't hold my own with the talents who were 'lunching' there daily. What a gathering...Helle saw some of my oddities, and was so kind and embracing---and so damned funny---we became friends immediately. She was one of the first who urged me to post (thank you), and gave me my first camera (thank you!), and remains a jewel of a friend to this day. Some of the first things I saw, then, were her painstaking archaeological drawings, for a local museum. When she told me she'd taught herself, I asked: "How did you do that!" Then I went to her gallery and saw her beautiful photos of Denmark, and of decayed walls, and mushrooms, and amazing insects, and her landscape paintings and still lifes and cross-hatches, etc. When Helle and I became personal friends, I not only had the joy of her immensely entertaining and loving letters, but of getting her art. You can't imagine what a treat that was. It still is... Since meeting her, she's had her share of losses, hardships, etc. Yet somehow, she's managed to be one of the most delightful people I've ever met. (And I feel I've gotten to know her family too, incl her husband, children, siblings, etc.) But most of all, she brings the Sun to wherever she goes: She gives tons of love and support, and great sense of humor. And her art? She'll "throw something together," upload it, and say "I did this last night, and it was awful, but I used a filter on it..." Trust me: It was great before and after the filter: She just doesn't realize how creative and beautiful her work is. In addition to everything above, there's her "letter" series (to die for), her "pop art" series (a carnival for the eye), her montages (opulence and beauty), and so on. Her doodles alone make me drool... Thank you, Helle! You've been one of the great gifts of my life, and I'm thrilled to be your friend. I know you've got a bad eye right now, and I wish you total healing for it. But above all, I send you all my love and gratitude for being one of the carnivals and canopies in my life; and I'm grateful forever that this site brought you to my door. With everyone who loves you, love and light and blessings in abundance! And Happy Birthday for the jewel that you are...Mark (It's huge---best zoomed and scrolled.) ------------------------------------------------

Well, considering the short period that I've known our dear Helle, there really isn't anything that would equal or surpass what you said in your all encompassing narrative to the talented and whimsical young lady, Mark, on this commemorative day. As for your art, the color lavender galore shrouds what I believe is our planet, shown in various stages of chaos, along with the rings of black objects encircling its circumference. I'm confident that Helle will appreciate this quadriptic image.

OOOH! Dear Mark. What a fantastic painting you have created with the moons shining through the most amazing colors. Absolutely perfect, as I just love these colors. THank you so much for this. I just love it.

AND, you make me blush. I really dont deserve all your praises you write about me. Though it is sweet to read about all the years we have had in this site, how we met and how we became friends and later close friends. Wow 7 years have gone and I hope it will be many many more years. I lost my older brother in 2008. My dear mother three months later, but you have becomed my new brother. It is so beautiful and I am so proud being your friend, dear Mark. You are a jewel in my life and you know it. You are a jewel to many in RR and outside too. You are a beautiful soul and I thank you ever to much for all your beautiful and warm words and for the narrative about our friendship :-) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my friend. :´-)
