Description
A starfish which sits on a shelf in my bathroom. This started out as a simple macro, but then I completely removed the color (not a major change, since the starfish is mostly white & the wall behind it is a light yellow) & began gradually adding color & texture to it. I ended up adding five layers of varying textures & a vignette layer & this was the result...

your postwork turned it into a medieval emblem, like an emblem on a cross, or on a set of crossed swords. The lighting brings out the royal feeling, and it appears like heavily incised gold. A striking transformation, terrific work.
