This looks like a road, I do better not want to walk alone in the dark. Very nice capture Mark.

Yes, some days it does look like that, doesn't it? Bright but bleak, not overtly weathering but the remains are still there...a day that makes you reconsider venturing forth. Well captured!

Gritty urban realism illuminated by brilliant winter sunlight. I can almost hear the noise of garbage trucks making their rounds early in the morning...

So many things come to mind in this superbly emotional image. Bleak, dystopian, old, worn, vintage, the feeling that the people who inhabit this place are living on the edge. An overall feeling of grime and soot. Full of atmosphere and character. This reminds me of downtown Los Angeles before they gentrified the hell out of it. Pretty good for a little black and white photo, don’t you think?

Fantastic lights and view my friend !!!

So dramatically depressing, even in sunlight!

A veritable kaleidoscopic pic, with extreme lighting contrast and lots of depth, depicted in this striking concept of a Chicago back alley, looking somewhat uninviting in this cold wet night, black and white venue, Mark. A haven for drunkards, tomcats, ne'er-do-wells, and the homeless.

almost can see a replicant wandering around
Great scene

Through all the mud and grime, this alley if it could speak would have many stories, love the age of the buildings. Your b&w shot really captures emotion.
Richardphotos
you represented the grime of most alleys. superb capture and monochrome

There's something that - oddly enough - fascinates me about older alleys in large cities... They're all pretty cleaned up in Kansas City - no more old poles with the old glass insulators on them.
I love the light and shadow in this photo, Mark! Nicely seen and photographed.

Your street shots are always so beautiful, dear Mark and this is too with light reflections and clarity and contrast. Love it :)

A dark and rather scary looking alley. Snow is interesting, as it can be so innocent and pristine and other times, dirty.

Now then, I have seen THAT alley before, in all sorts of weather, Sun- & Moon- and streetlights and this one is just plain wicked, sort of 'all slushy' - is there such a word in English ? (unless Chicago has more than one alley or they all look the same - LOL) The best thing would be, to watch your feet and where you are stepping next and no car is overtaking you, whoops - wet again... must get home quickly and change, ah -- the joys of Winter in the windy city... I love the mood here, it's soooo nice and slushy

You've captured the mood of this international scene so well!
