Description
There was a small church across the street from the artist's market. It had once been a sailor's chapel but was now part church and part museum. This is a detail from the only window which I found particularly interesting and indicative of how things are changing in Cuba. There was only one nun in the place but she spoke no English.

lol, yes the front figure---I assume Christ---looks like he's wearing a bra (Andrea). This has elements of real Central and South American christianity---the intense gazes, the almost street-art expressions, the mix of sacred with figures who look like the suffering masses, folk art motifs, etc. And its very swirly, the colors in the glass are applied beautifully. But most of all, a stark arresting gaze in the son, and a fierce gaze in the father (who appears to have a third eye! Maybe he's a buddhist...) Vividly captured, Mark. We're really getting a sense of this amazingly rich culture from you.
