Description
This sculpture was located in the same square as the giant inflated rabbit I posted a photo of earlier (one of whose fellow rabbits can be seen in the background here). I suspect it may have been created by the same sculptor as the one who created the man coming out of a sewer (also a previous post of mine), as the material & style appears to be the same, as well as the way it's integrated into it's surroundings. Now I find myself wondering if there is more of his work around Bratislava that I may have missed...

it is an interesting bit of art, Also a great way to get sneaky candids of people by using the statue as a'focal point'

Superb capture my friend. God bless.

Interesting statue, but he does look a little too big? Napoleon was only 1.68 meters tall. ;o) Superb shot!

I love this kind of urban sensibility...we need that in our cities much more...and yes, it does seem to be by the same artist as the one who did the sewer cover. For Europeans conscious of their history, there has to be a certain smile in showing a soldier from one of the great despots hunched over a bench. Humanizing the enemy. (Maybe you know it, but Beethoven dedicated a very famous symphony---the Eroica---to Napoleon, until Napoleon declared himself emperor, shocking the European elite into cries of "villain," as if it should've taken an emperor-ship for them to realize that Napoleon was a megalomaniac: When Beethoven found out, he ripped off the dedication page, and said it was to the memory of a great hero...) Anyway you have lots of light in this, and for me it brings out the strong deep hues of so much in this shot. I always love to see you turn a sight into a work of art. The boldness of the people, statue, bench, chairs, signs, etc, stand out very strongly against all that light. And the strong light allows the rabbit to appear a huge apparition...either that or it's a massive slab of cream cheese. (Not likely...) And the ambers of the sidewalk are fine contrast. Love this shot.

That's a fun one! He has an interesting expression on his face, as if he was in the middle of telling a joke and about to stand up and deliver the punchline...wonderful shot with that big blancmange in the background!
