Description
Looking up at the dome of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. We only had about a day & a half in Vienna, which was woefully inadequate. But we did get a tour of this wonderful museum, which is an architectural marvel that contains some amazing artwork - paintings, sculptures & precious objects of all sorts. I will have several photos to share of these...
Please zoom.

is this deliberately shot off-centered or is this how it is designed?
Great capture

It's not how it's designed, it's where I was standing. Was it deliberate? I honestly don't remember if it was deliberate or whether the exact center was inaccessible to me for some reason...

it's a famous museum with some famous pieces, and I know it's supposed to be stunning architecturally---which your eye shows. To Mike's question, you're shooting on a slight angle from center, which is why the dome seems skewed---I say this only from the photographs I've seen, where the dome shifts according to the pov. But your shot makes it seem almost flat, and off-centered, which is a fascinating counterpoint to all that symmetric design. The detail is glittering in your shot, but also there's an overall feel of golds and whites mixing to make a whole. And the light in the dome stands out with its pink and orange tones. A fine and detailed and glittering ceiling shot. I'm sure a day or two in Vienna is barely a 'taste', but you saw so many other amazing places...someday maybe you'll go back and see Vienna all by itself...(Es ist sehr schön, ja? Ah, wunderbar...An Austrian friend said, once, "when you see Vienna, you just sigh and go, "Ah, schön...and you don't have the word for that here: It's "sweet," "wonderful," "just right...")

I love the off-centeredness of this shot; EVERYONE lines them up perfectly, and it's hard to remember that it's a real place, not just a flat picture when you see it like that. Off-center lets us feel the reality of moving around underneath this beautiful dome. Well done, intentional or not! And a beautiful shot!
