Description

Start of a 'New Year' and there are new rules ! That is, until our Government stepped in and decided on the hair-raising issue, of how to slow down those young maniacs on the roads, but in particular when it comes to being dragged off, while waiting for traffic lights to change and then they are going VROOM, VROOM, impatient and always wanting to be the first across - before and when they actually change... cheeky little sods ! OK - so we were young once. (and how time flies!) But then one of those bright spark Officials came up with that brain-storming idea, of four coloured traffic lights: Red, Orange, Yellow and Green - remembering watching the tomatoes grow in his Mother's garden (see above!) and based on those colours, THAT should slow them down ??? But there is some good news: - "This new rule applies only to Vegetarians!" - and can't you just imagine THEM to be up in arms ? [I'll let you in on a little secret, I had to remove two tiny little tomatoes by photo-shop] because you don't want to know, what colour they were ? it had something to do with, wait for it ! another colour for non-smokers... Now you really are questioning the sanity of this Government, don't blame me - blame my Mother and her tomatoes... Cheers my friends, let's just eat them quickly before they change colour again, and we are having a glutton of them presently - lovely, lovely, lovely... Happy New Year to all !

Lol for your words and lol for your government! If the respect of others and of human life is made of colors, we have to change our clothing habits! But with this numerous colors on your lights, I pity the colorblinds! (I'm a little so...)! 😆

Superb capture of these appetizing tomatoes with so beautiful... colors!

What a nanny state we live in....way too many dumb ass rules, at traffic lights, it should be ready, set, go and go faster !

A very creative capture and cool composition and I can't wait to eat them...not the traffic lights, the tomatoes ! LOL

~Cheese~....err, ~Cheers~ 😄

interesting to say the least.

no matter how many rules and regs are up, there are those who feel that the rules are for everyone else and not them.

Whoohoo, I just love your sense of humour my dear BB-chen, what a cool idea, to demonstrate the newly invented traffic lights through your big sort of tomato harvest. I laugh so extreme that your police would take me away from the road, if I'd heard in your land. You know, here they have an expression, namely, "I annoys me green and yellow." But this you mustn't, sweetheart, just say it with tomatoes 🍅. But duh, I have a lot of bad luck if these rules are for vegetarians, because I'm usually so one of them. 😍 A great photo, and even more amazing story behind it, my amazing friend.

Imagination and creativity make your posts very interesting!!! I enjoyed your writing, your photo, and thinking what can be done...with the lights... Well, in our city there are many that break the law, especially the motorcyclists. Great capture and work with the beautiful tomatoes! Hugs!

Well spotted and captured. I loved your story and thank goodness they aren't going to muck ours up yet. We haven't had enough sunshine to ripen ours yet :(. I'm hoping summer will get here soon. 😄

It never ceases to amaze me, the traffic light patterns they come up with. In our summer home, where I have lived all my life up until now, we have red, yellow and green, and they mean the usual things. Some are arrows, some blink, but in general, one can understand them.

In our new winter home, which is in a different state altogether, they have a very interesting combination: A green turn arrow with a red ball. Apparently a red ball on its own means stop, of course. A green arrow by itself means it's okay to turn across traffic (in the case of US traffic, it would be a left turn signal). Red ball with green arrow means it's okay to turn across the traffic, but be careful and watch the cross traffic, because they might not have stopped yet.

I'd rather have a tomato. :P

Great picture! They sort of look like the lights at a drag-racing track.

In the paper today was a sad story about four young people in a speeding car. The car hit a light pole and three people who were not wearing seatbelts were ejected and killed. The fourth person was wearing a seatbelt and is in the hospital. Tragic, yes, but this is nature's way of cleaning up the gene pool.

Perhaps we would do better with tomatoes instead of traffic lights. If someone tried to run the red tomato it would detach and hit them in the face. BTW-pickled green tomatoes are delicious.

one of the only advantages to commenting on your images late is that I get to see what others have said. You always get really engaged and often fun comments; and this one got all kinds of responses. Mark's (wysiwig's) showed the true tragic side to it all, but I love his comment about using real tomatoes instead of lights, so that if you mess up, a tomato comes and smashes you in the face.

But leave it to you to come up with tomatoes as traffic lights (!!), and getting 4 perfect colors for them, with two perfect rows. Love what you did with this. And they do look like traffic lights. And they're placed against a white background to make them stand out. (With some nice borders too.) Sweet light on the tomatoes---they almost look like silk, in spots. Fine work with these, Brigitte, and I like that Jeff clarified that he couldn't wait to eat them---the tomatoes, not the lights: See, a good Monty Python routine would have someone eating the actual lights. I'd pay to see that. Your crop's just right for the shot too...Delightful, and really well done. Hope they work out the problem out in Oz!

... just spinning a yarn Mark, it's not more of a problem, than anywhere else in the world today - go figure ?

Just too funny !

Awesome imagination Brigitte, well done !

Perhaps you should run for city council and start changing things that aren't broke like in your story.

LOL Jeff's comment, perhaps each section should be in print rather than color ! !

Way behind in comments=== bare with me---- wishing you, Jeff and all your favorites a very happy New Year and all the best in 2016 .
