Description
A trio of smaller art objects from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna today. I looked up the Latin inscription on this piece which reads "hodie mihi cras tibi" & found that it translates as "Today it's me, tomorrow it will be you". According to the site everything2.com, "In contrast to benediction epitaphs such as requiescat in pace, this is more of a warning to the living. Everyone dies, so live well while you can."

Excellent capture, and I find this little fellow quite eerie!

what's even eerier about this sculpture is that the face is very young, as if this were a deceased child. (I know it's an angel, but this is a very young one...) Not uncommon (child deaths) centuries ago, and a striking image to illustrate the text. Your shot is bathed in deep red shadows, and a slight glimmer around the gold---beautifully and subtly done. And the blue on top is brought out just enough to give a restful 'sky' feel to it. First rate museum photography; making art out of art. I can't praise your handling of museum works enough...
