Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I like to watch Snooker also very much. To see this on TV always has something soothing. Very nice manipulation Andrea.

Yes, ala Christian, I assume this is Snooker, as it's far more common in England than in the States (where Pool is the common version). You got the 'lean', and the "eyeing of the prey," and the dead-eyed concentration of a real snooker player. For a shot from TV, this has a lot of archetypal movement and posture. Even his left elbow is classic. And your postwork has erased all but the key lines; and the hues make it a carnival. I love how you treated the balls---with that red swath on top of all of them (I assume reflected lights). And you left one eye visible, and one eye whited-out. The essence of the game. And the grid of sticks in the background is terrific...Terrific work on this, Andrea: You obviously care about the game, because you captured one of its archetypal moments perfectly.
(I played pool a lot, eons ago---I was awful, btw---and we had the pleasure of seeing a master at work. I mean, this guy downed ball after ball, setting up impossible shots in seconds, you could see the 'clickers' in his brain go like a calculator, as he sized up the angles and bounces, and so on. He'd calculate--in his eyes---lean over---like your image---pull the cue back 3 times, and---whoosh! He'd make his shot. Then, afterwards, I'd step to the table, mutter "nooooooooooooo problem," and proceeded to do so badly they almost threw me out. We had a group, and we twirled the cues, did ballet twirls, strutted, you name it. People actually watched us. But we played like s___. And when big money games were played, they asked us to leave "or else". Some of those players were rough. Lotta shady types in pool halls...)

Beautifully done. I hope you get better Andrea so you don't have to watch TV during the daytime and do your afternoon strolls in your neighborhood or on the beach instead!

I like everything about this except the name Trump. The concentration on his face is almost painful to see. Our sports figures are much better behaved. All they do is take drugs, drink and abuse the women in their lives.

I hope you are well soon my dear

I like how you have done this and I am glad you have found something to watch while you aren't feeling so well.
