Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

the flickr version isn't really a 'black' background, so much as one of your perfume bottle backgrounds, a morph of a few hues with goldish undertones, and it's beautiful. In this setting, your background brings out the light tones of the sculptures; and there's plenty of shade and highlight to give them shape, in your shot. They're wonderful sculptures; and I glanced at the article---that studio does beautiful stuff. I know nothing of salt glazing, and will read about it later. But there's some beautiful stuff in that style. These are more of the many beautiful pieces from your home, and I have a feeling that if I were there, I'd never leave. (When I did leave, you'd say, "excuse me---what's in that huge bag??? you didn't come here with that huge bag---can I look inside?") Thanks for sharing these.

My father used to call such things 'dust collectors'. I, however, have always been a fan of whimsy and the odd. These are quite lively and full of character. Thanks for the link. Some wonderful stuff there. Mr. Sydenham and his cohorts were very talented.

What a nice bear family. Super photo, but I have to say, the image with the background I like even better.
